There are many analogies used to describe the contrast between a wise person and a foolish person. The fundamental difference between the wise and foolish is not really the amount of information or the level of exposure. The fundamental difference is the corresponding action.
The wise person hears the Word of God and does what it says.
The foolish person also hears the Word but does not do what it says.
It is not enough to know about God, it is not enough to believe the Word is true, it is not enough to understand the Word. We need to do what the Word of God says to see result.
Doing the Word activates the power of God.
Doing the word of God includes obeying the Word of God by practicing what the Word says.
Doing the Word of God also includes speaking the Word of God and declaring the word of God over our lives.
Jesus told a parable to illustrate the power of obeying the Word of God and putting it into practice:
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Mathew 7:24-27
The only difference between the wise man and the foolish man is that the wise man put the words of Jesus into practice.
Both men heard the same word.
One obeyed the word and the other did not = different responses
The man who obeyed the word built his house on the rock of the Word of God while the foolish man built his house on the sands of human wisdom.
Then the rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against both houses
One house stood while the other crashed = different results
Your response to the Word of God determines the result in your life
“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” James 1:22
Put the Word of God into practice to get results. Be a doer of the Word.
Have a blessed week.
